Food Bank of Alaska believes that no one deserves to be hungry. Since 1979, we have been securing donated food for nonprofit agencies to distribute to hungry Alaskans.

Lights! Camera! Action!

CANstruction® 2012 starts February 24th at the University Center and is open to the public. This year’s competition will feature a “back to the movies” theme titled “Lights! Camera! Action!” Along with students from Dimond High School (supported by the great folks at ICRC), eight teams of professionals comprised of local architects, designers, engineers and contractors will build giant structures made entirely out of canned food!
All proceeds—including tens of thousands of canned goods—will be donated to Food Bank of Alaska (FBA).

Tools of the Trade

Our annual report is a snap shot of our year. It’s our chance to recognize all the generous corporations and community members who support FBA. It is our opportunity to highlight our many partners. And through the annual report, we can share our successes, our challenges, and our changes.

Every year is a chapter in the story of our campaign to eliminate hunger in Alaska. The theme for this past year’s report is “Tools of the Trade” and was designed by those incredible (and internationally recognized) folks at Mad Dog Graphx. We know in these tough times, our donors are looking more carefully than ever for authenticity and transparency from non-profit organizations. We welcome those expectations and invite you to go through our report to see what we do!

Director's Diary

Our second son, Frey Morgan-Krebs, was born on February 16. Three thousand cheers!

While Frey’s birth mother Jocelyn Krebs gets most of the credit for this feat, we relied on a lot of kindness and favors from friends and family. As FBA’s Executive Director, I spend much of my time committing acts of charity, not receiving them. It was really good for me to be reminded that very best charity is easy to accept because it is so clearly an act of love. More
